Sports Massage

Sports massage therapy is geared toward athletes of every kind, from world-class professionals to weekend joggers.

Sports Massage can help to reduce fatigue, alleviate swelling, reduce muscle tension, promote flexibility, prevent injury, and prepare the body for performance. Typically, it is used before or after an athletic event, and many athletes use it regularly as an integral part of their training regime.

It is used on areas of the body and muscles that are overused and stressed, being over extended from repetitive and often aggressive movements.

It is this overuse that may often create problems and imbalances in the soft tissues. If these are ignored and allowed to become chronic, they will not only hinder the athletes rate of improvement, but in many cases, their performance will also suffer.

Sports massage can treat a variety of ailments and injuries that can result from exercise. It helps

athletes be more efficient in their training, as well as aiding recovery from injuries or muscle fatigue.

Some benefits of sports massage include:

- Draining Away Fatigue
- Relieving Swelling
- Reducing Muscle Tension
- Promoting Flexibility
- Help to heal Injuries From Overexertion or Overuse
- Relieving Pain
- Increasing Blood Circulation and Lymph Flow

Sports massage is beneficial for you, regardless of whether you exercise for recreational purposes or participate in sports at the elite level.

Our mission is to help you heal and stay out of pain. That’s it - plain and simple.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage therapy is similar to Swedish massage, but the deeper pressure is beneficial in releasing chronic muscle tension. The focus is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia.

Deep Tissue Massage releases the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deeper pressure on the contracted areas, either following or going across the grain of muscles, tendons and fascia. It can help reduce pain, increase range of motion, relieve muscle spasms and improve circulation.

Each and every massage therapy treatment will be tailored to your individual health need.

Swedish Massage

Light to medium Swedish massage techniques to stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, relaxing the mind and body.

At 20/20 Massage & Wellness, we offer Swedish massage therapy for relaxation and stress relief.

Swedish massage will stimulate the skin and nervous system while relaxing and soothing the nerves themselves. Emotional and physical stress and tension are reduced. Regularly scheduled massages are a great way to keep stress under control.

Following your Swedish massage session, you’ll leave feeling relaxed and regenerated. This can be attributed to the release of dopamine and serotonin during the massage. These hormones are responsible for feelings of happiness and overall well-being.

Prenatal Massage

During this treatment the positioning of the body will be customized to the clients comfort, and massage techniques will be adapted to address the challenges experienced throughout pregnancy.

Prenatal massage is therapeutic bodywork that focuses on the special needs of the mother-to-be as her body goes through the changes of pregnancy. It enhances the function of muscles and joints, improves circulation and general body tone, and relieves mental and physical fatigue.

Some research shows prenatal massage therapy can help reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches and joint pains, and improve labor outcomes and newborn health.

Cupping

Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction.

People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well- being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage.

Cupping can be incorporated in some of the treatment if the client desires.
